Milkymist SoC, Milkymist One, Flickernoise
Three projects into one!
The Milkymist project pushes further the limits of open hardware, by proposing not only an open PCB design but also a fully open sourced System-on-Chip (SoC) design working on FPGAs, so that ones can reconfigure on the fly the silicon.

The second part of the project is called Milkymist One. Milkymist One is an interactive VJ station, an easy to use high quality end user product.

PCB is on the way, and features are pretty complete:
- XC6SLX45 Spartan-6 FPGA
- 128MB 32-bit DDR400 SDRAM
- 32MB parallel flash
- VGA output, 24bpp, up to 140MHz pixel clock
- Multi-standard video input (PAL/SECAM/NTSC)
- AC'97 audio
- 10/100 Ethernet
- Memory card reader that accepts microSD cards
- Two connectors that accept USB peripherals
- MIDI IN and MIDI OUT ports
- RC5-compatible infrared receiver
- RS232 debug port

The final product will obviously be a plug-and-play case product, since final users will be mainly artists, not developers. You can always see the status update on this page.
Flickernoise is the software part of the Milkymist One project, the visible part used by VJ to complete there artworks.

Flickernoise will allow the creation of visual patches and their connection with all the interfaces that the Milkymist One provides thanks to an easy to use graphical user interface. Let the visuals react to sound and MIDI events, connect a camera and create live phantasmagoric images of yourself...
Long is the road, but free is the way... :)
